Who needs a hug when you can listen loudly to Strokes B-sides

Here are some songs by The Strokes that you might have forgotten. Or, if like me, have never forgotten.

MODERN GIRLS AND OLD FASHIONED MEN is an example of when two of the most heavenly voices  (Julian Casablancas and Regina Spektor) merge together in perfect harmony. And that sudden key change after the second chorus... So much drama!

I'LL TRY ANYTHING ONCE: The lullaby version of You Only Live Once, set to peaceful keyboard and soothing vocals. It's kind of like the baby ('seven ways to go through school, either you're noticed or left out, seven ways to get ahead, seven reasons to drop out...') , especially as it's an early writing of You Only Live Once.

HAWAII. Woah, Julian, I never knew you felt so enthusiastic about Hawaii before hearing this song. It's like when returning from a holiday and feeling desperate affection for the place you've just been. Or when you're so in love with something, you feel the need to make up a hyperactive song about it on the spot.

'Still my favourite place in this whole wide world has got to be in the middle of the ocean floor
I see you poking out of the ocean, paradise on Earth
the 50th state- WHAT?

HAWAII!'

It's cute.

LIFE'S A GAS: The Ramones cover filled with total happiness.
