Green tea breakfast smoothie
So I was at the Fashion and Textile Museum last Sunday afternoon, viewing the Thea Porter exhibition, and afterwards went to its cafe for a drink, chat and bite to eat. It was here, on the menu behind the counter, that a chai smoothie jumped up and down and waved for my attention. CHAI. SMOOTHIE. Like, two of my favourite kind of drinks combined. Is this not just the best? So, obviously, I eagerly ordered one.
It wasn't that great.
It was warm for a start, like a newly brewed chai tea had been poured straight into it, which tasted a bit weird. However, it did cause a light bulb moment inside my head. Tea in smoothies. Why had I never thought of this before? It seems obvious now.
So here is my rise and shine smoothie made from some of the best breakfast ingredients including mango and lychee green tea. To make, simply brew your tea (leaving the teabag in for a few minutes) and allow to cool for a bit. Then blend together an avocado, banana, apple, about four tea spoons of plain yogurt, a sprinkling of oats, a tiny handful of spinach and your green tea. Depending on the size of your mug/ cup you may not want to use all of the tea- just enough to get everything whizzing freely around. Finally, pour out and enjoy!
Works great as fuel before a morning run.
